BP Visa

Postby Michael » Thu Oct 10, 2013 9:45 am

I have a BP Visa that I got before I understood the inferior rebate formula. This card has a $7500 limit from Chase.

Should I keep this card (no annual fee)?

I have AMEX Blue Cash Preferred ($30,000), Chase Freedom ($56,500), Discover IT
($15000), and Cap One Quicksilver ($15,000).

BP Visa pays between 2.1- 2.24% on gas, depending whether you redeem at the pump or online.

We really can't tell you that. Is it still useful to you even though the BCP offers 3%? How old is the card (i.e. how does it factor into your AAoA)? Would you take a significant hit to utilization by closing it? If you decided to keep it open but not use it could you monitor it for potential fraud? If you left it open and unused would you be willing to use it from time to time to keep it from being closed due to inactivity?

Those are just some suggestions on items to consider but there may be other matters important to you that aren't on my list above.
