Q4 - Coming next month!

Postby Nash » Sun Sep 08, 2013 11:38 pm

With Q4 coming next month, what rewards cards will you be using, and which will go in the sock drawer?

It looks like Chase Freedom is going with department stores and Amazon, and Discover is going with online shopping.

I think I'll be using my Discover more, since I do a lot of online shopping around this time of the year. My BCE will go back to being my gas/groceries card.
Arsenal:
Discover it [3/12, $2,500]
Amex BCE [5/13, $25,000, bd 9/12]
Chase Freedom [1/13, $5,500]
SunTrust Cash Rewards [4/14, $7,000]
Bank of America Travel Rewards [9/15, $6,000]

I'll probably load up on some Amazon GCs with Freedom's Amazon category. Wish I had a Discover card to take advantage of online shopping....

Citi Dividend doesnt appear to have announced their categories yet but I bet it too will have to do with shopping.

Amex BCE: 3% grocery, 2% gas
Bank of America Better Balance Rewards MC: $25/quarter bonus
Barclaycard Rewards Visa Signature: 2% gas, groceries, utilities
Capital One Quicksilver Visa Signature: 1.5% everything
Chase Freedom Visa Signature: 5% rotating
Citi Forward Visa: 5% restaurants/fastfood, movie theaters, amazon.com
Discover It: 5% rotating
SallieMae MC: 5% Groceries, Gas, Amazon
US Bank Cash+ Visa Signature: 5% electronic stores, restaurants
Sock Drawered: Chase Sapphire, Chase Amazon

I bet they won't be any good, as usual. "5% cash back at the Depends Factory Outlet"" or something along those lines.
Blue Cash Preferred ($24K), Costco TrueEarnings ($8K), Better Balance Rewards ($6K), CashForward ($15K), Sallie Mae Rewards ($10K), Quicksilver ($17K), AARP Rewards ($15K), Freedom ($15K), Double Cash ($16.5K), It ($28.5K), Fidelity Investment Rewards ($18K), Cash+ ($11K)

There's a factory seconds/number two joke in here, but I can't tease it out.

Once you reach $300 reward, Citi does not give even 1% after that so there is no way to get $300.01 cash back from Citi Dividend in a year. I used up all reward in first quarter category and now waiting for January.

You'd qualify for it. It's only a potential $75 for Q4, but still nice for ShopDiscover.
