Who's Really Behind Peoples Bank Credit Card Offers?

Postby OP304 » Sun Aug 04, 2013 9:31 pm

Does People Bank handle the customers credit cards or what. When I go to apply on the website, when I click the application this is what comes up on my screen.

You are now leaving People's United Bank and being redirected to People's United Bank Card Services, which is hosted by RBS Citizens, N.A. Please note the following changes to your User Name and Password:

Your People's United Online User Name and Password cannot be used on the new website.
You will need to re-enroll your credit card account on the new People's United Bank Card Services website and create a new User Name and Password.

Your new User Name and Password can only be used on the new People's United Bank Card Services website.

You may continue to use your People's United Online User Name and Password to access your non-credit card accounts.

Why in the world would a competing bank, RBS, be hosting the credit card website for Peoples Bank.

From the People's United site:
The People's United Bank Credit Card is issued and serviced by RBS Citizens, N.A.

Why is that? One I don't get why Peoples would let a competitor do that.

And two, what then is the difference between credit cards from Peoples Bank and RBS. The whole point of going with the local bank is for convenience but if you need a separate login for a separate website and it's through a separate company that is six of one, half a dozen of the other.

A lot of smaller banks outsource management of their credit card accounts to larger banks. They simply don't have the ability to handle the accounts.

This. My Associated card is handled by Elan which is basically US Bank. It says Associated on the front of the card while on the back it says Elan.
