Do you find the Mens Wearhouse credit card misleading?

Postby shuzzie » Tue Jul 23, 2013 7:40 pm

When I was at checkout at Mens Wearhouse the guy was recommending to me the 'Perfect Fit' credit card. I almost signed up for it b/c he said you get $50 back for every $500 you spend. Given that I spent over $600 on what was supposed to be a cheap suit, tie, shirt and shoes that $500 is easy to hit especially since I have a new job and now need a new wardrobe of suits.

Then after leaving the store I have second thoughts and regret not getting it for that purchase. When I get home I pull up Mens Wearhouse credit card on my computer. Come to find out the 'Perfect Fit' is a stand-alone rewards system. You can use it w/o the credit card from what I can see.

Why then did the sales guy give the impression the $50 for $500 deal was from the credit card?????

And why would I ever want the card if I can get the rewards without????

Looks like with the CC you get 5% extra on top of the Perfect Fit rewards program. The sales person probably suggested the credit card because he/she gets rewarded in some way for getting people to sign up for CC.

When I used to work in Jcpenney few years ago, our managers ALWAYS pushed us to offer the store card to every costumer. We would only get a $2 incentive for every costumer that applies. With only 2 bucks, I rarely asked people about it, unless I had my managers closeby me. Most likely the sales rep did it try to get a quick buck off you.

Wait I'm confused. When I go to the pages for the Perfect Fit and Mens Wearhouse card both list the same benefits. Are you sure the credit card gives 5% extra?

For how hard he was trying to sell me on it I sure hope MW was paying him more than 2 bucks per approval!!!!
