MB131174 wrote:$50 for 1,000 points is not a good deal at all. You figure, those points are being bought for 5 cents a piece, while their redemption is going to be worth maybe, what, 1, 2 or 3 cents a piece? Maybe 4 if you're getting a super über great deal? I can understand if the trip is of urgent nature and you can't afford to pay out of pocket for the ticket, but can swing $50 to get the points needed. If it's a non-vital trip, I'd put it off until the points accumulated, or spent the money on items you need for your everyday life (or items you'd need for the trip) to gain the points.

Agreed, but something like an anniversary trip to Australia and you're only 1k points short and you have the other 499,000 is when I would use it. Something where spending the money saves you a lot of money. Aside from that there's no reason.

Agreed, it's the only example where this works, also I found out that 1k Mr points is 25 which makes it a slightly better deal. (not a great one but still better)
