2013 Suntrust Rewards Credit Card

Postby FutureBillionaire » Mon May 06, 2013 12:51 pm

They called me from a local branch and said I was preapproved for one of their rewards cards. He tried to compare it to Discover. I thought that was interesting, since Discover is 10 times better and it isn't a true cash back card, but instead points based.

Suntrust has been pretty stingy with me in the past and seems to be stingy in general. I was surprised at the offer.

Suntrust has our car note. Generally they have been good to deal with for my business but their credit card products have been so-so.

I see it as something to round out their product portfolio rather than directly competitive with the bigger players in the market. The fact that they actually cold called you from the local branch is interesting...maybe they are trying to change that. Still, their products are going to have to get more competitive with the better cards out there.
Cards:
American Express Platinum (NPSL)
Penfed Platinum Reward Visa ($28K)
Chase Freedom Visa ($25K)
Fidelity American Express ($20K)
American Express Blue Cash Preferred ($20K)
Bank of America Cash Rewards MasterCard ($20K)
Citi Thank You Preferred Visa ($9.5K)
Chase Sapphire Preferred ($7.5K)
US Bank Cash + Visa Signature ($7K)
Discover IT ($4K)

I agree. I told him I will let him know in a couple of months and that I appreciated the call.
