Bye Bye PRG. Hello...?

Postby FutureBillionaire » Mon Apr 15, 2013 3:50 pm

I'm getting rid of the Amex PRG. The annual fee isn't worth it. We've went over that before.

So, I'm going to replace it with something. I've been kicking around the idea of getting another Amex so I can get some good backdating in. I've also thought about the Citi TYP (IF I can get that fantastic 5x promo). I've been kicking around that Barclay card as well.

I've got some cards reporting balances. No, I don't pay interest on anything. I have about 5 accounts reporting balances. What would you look at in my situation? A few of you on here think like I do, so I want some opinions.

I'd have to get another charge card. None of them are of any value to me. I really would prefer to PC it. If I could go from charge to revolving, I would get the SPG, Hilton, or Blue Sky Preffered.

SPG card is pretty nice. The points have an average value of about 2.5 cents each. I plan to use it for my yearly vacation. Also, you can transfer points to miles on most airlines at a 1.25:1 ratio (20K points for 25K miles). So far I have only used it with Amzn Pymnts.

I would stay away from Hilton due to their recent devaulation.

Citi TYP with 5x point promo on the way. I'm going to burn the magnetic strip off this puppy.

Another $6500 credit limit. When I'm done with this card, I'll close it and move the credit to the Forward. I don't know what bureau they hit me on. I figure I might as well burn it at grocery and drugstores until they turn me down.

Wait, so did you get the TY Premier or TY Preferred? I tried out Citi for about a month and wasn't very impressed. How does the TY points fair?

I got the TY preferred. I'm probably going to redeem for gift cards to high end merchants. I've had my eye on a Gucci belt and a Burberry shirt. I can't justify spending my own money for that stuff. I will happily use some credit card rewards though.
