What is a statement credit exactly (how it affects purchases)

Postby tigerowl06 » Wed Apr 03, 2013 1:44 am

This question is relevant to my Blue Cash Everyday card: how does redeeming my cash rewards for statement credits affect the rewards given for the purchases on that statement?

For example, say I make $1000 in purchases during a statement period, and redeem $100 in rewards dollars to my statement. For that statement, do I get rewards on $1000 or $900? If it's $900, then which $900 since some purchases earn more rewards than others?

Thanks!

Previous statements accumulated rewards are available for redeeming. What you spend in current period will be available as rewards after the end of statement when rewards are posted.

In other words you get rewards on the $1000 spent, on the following statement. The statement credit is exactly as it you had made an extra payment yourself, it doesn't impact the amount purchased, which is what the rewards are based on.
