I routinely buy Vanilla Reloads using credit cards without any issues for last 2 months. You donot need to visit the shop for more than 5 days in a calendar month. You can buy worth $1000 in a day and sometimes cashier asks for ID to verify card owner.

However, Bluebird savings is decided by the credit cards you use. 1% or 2% or 5% minus 0.79% for the VR fees. No money benefit by transferring from checking account

I guess Amex isn't worried about brand value anymore, kind of like Apple with iPhone and Straight Talk.

The value of a brand is directly tied to it's sustainability. I'm quite certain the Centurion members aren't worried about what AmEx does at Wal-Mart. As a Platinum customer, I know I surely don't.

My Bluebird card is going to help me earn an extra flight per year. Great for me, great for AmEx, great for Wal-Mart customers who can have been under served or are tired of getting hammered by banks for not having enough minimum balance in their accounts to avoid fees.
AmEx - Platinum, Gold, Bluebird
Chase - CSP, Freedom
HSBC - Orchard Bank (1999)

The prestige of Amex may take a hit from them working with WalMart and marketing to the lower class, but it will be a huge money maker for them. What better way to enter the banking market than to turn every WalMart into a bank? It's a genius idea, IMO.

It would be desirable to limit comments to Bluebird only rather than Amex to avoid drifting from topic like Flyer talk BlueBird thread where most people discuss other than Bluebird. No wonder the topic has over 500 pages

How to get multiple bluebird accounts?

Postby mcooper7290 » Tue Apr 09, 2013 12:14 pm

cashback wrote:Bluebird is a Magic bird if you use it correctly. If you have this card and have two Bluebird accounts, that's 10K a month you can run through it. So that would be 50,395 TY points for $79 in fees each month. And that's in addition to your regular spending.

So how do I get multiple bluebird accounts? I've had one account since they came out, but when I tried to get another account on bluebird.com I was denied. Calling in I got an agent who said I could only have 1 account.

Anybody have any suggestions?
