Have you tried bluffing Citi and telling them that you are going to cancel your simplicity card? See if they make you a retention offer. Tell them that you need a card that gives you more cash back on drugstores or wherever else you need to earn points.

I still have a 0% balance on the Simplicity. When its paid off(May) I planned on switching it to a Forward.

I was at a local CVS yesterday to busy some more Vanilla Reload cards and saw that they were completely sold out on the shelves. I asked a manager if she had any more in the back (last time I bought them they did) and she told me the store hadn't had any in stock for 3 weeks but suggested I go up the street to the next CVS as they had them in stock

When I went in there I was surprised to see a signifant number of Vanilla Reload cards that didn't look like the ones I had bought in the past. Looking at them closer, I noticed the American Express logo was no longer on this card. Luckily the had a few left of the old style Vanilla Reload cards with the AMEX logo, but as far as I could tell these were the new style cards and that they no longer were valid with American Express

Has anyone else seen these cards and is this a sign that the days of pairing with Bluebird are about to come to an end? I should've snapped a picture of the new cards, I'll stop back in there if anyone wants to see what I'm talking about

FYI I was able to purchase $1000 worth on my credit card. It did get flagged as a fraud purchase by my credit card because I am currently out of state and the manager had to come over to help, but nobody mentioned anything about not being able to use a credit card for the purchase

I'm glad it worked out for you. I have seen reloads that look different than the ones that we get at drug stores, but those have been at Dollar General and Family dollar as I noted earlier.

I'm glad that it is working for now. CVS might be taking a more cautious approach when selling them, and thus might be willing to continue doing so. I hope that is the case.

On a related note, has anyone tried buying the PayPal MyCash packs from Walgreens or Rite Aid on CC?

Yes that's exactly it, thanks for posting. That's reassuring to know that this is not a new product and has been around for a few weeks.

Anyone have more info about why there are two variations of VR cards?

As far as I can tell there is no advantage for anyone to buy this card. It's still the same fee but just to buy a card that works in half the places of the other VR cards. Also I'm curious that if someone were to buy this card if it would actually work in reloading Bluebird, or if it's an entirely different set of PINs that wouldn't work with AMEX

I donot understand. If the card shows https://www.vanillareload.com/ as the website to load the funds to other card, then there should not any issue in loading into Bluebird within the limits set.
