This isn't surprising and was mentioned to me by my US Bank branch manager that this was changing. It was one of the most abused parts of the older redemption program...especially by US Bank employees!

Have you used the added benefits like Extended Warranty before? How was your experience? You bring up a fair point, I just have never heard of anyone using those benefits.

I had some positive experiences with AMEX and Discover with regarding the extended warranty.
Most of my big electronics, I started using Amex or Discover only. Recently I made a 10k purchase on SLR..and 1st time used a Visa Signature..I hope visa does a good job if I ever need a warranty claim after manufacturer's warranty expires.

And also the other thing they hit is the additional 25% bonus on the cashback for holding a Gold Checking account is phasing out in August.
That would be the time I would be closing down there checking and looks for an other bank.

I checked my statement today,downloaded the transaction history, and calculated the cash back. Unfortunately, payment to Time Warner Cable (MCC 4899) only gets 1% cash back.

Yes, the OP said on MyFico that the person he/she originally spoke to (the source of the information in the post) later said that while that had been the plan, things got changed. Some providers do still seem to work, but TWC and Verizon (FioS and landline) don't.
