The website now states 5% on combined $2000 per quarter in the bonus categories. And someone on myfico phoned US Bank, and they confirm that starting July, the 5% is capped this way (and immediately for new users and those who didn't select categories).

"5% on combined $2000" was meant to imply: maximum SPEND on these (combined) categories of $2000 per quarter, earning a max of $100 back per quarter. So it is a $400 a year card, priced that way I guess to be "better" than Freedom and IT and Dividend. (But if you move Freedom UR points via CSP/Ink, probably $300 of those is more than $400)

It's still got a good 2% category for a category that I need.

Out of interest, which? Penfed is better for gas, currently TYP for groceries and drug stores. Oh, you don't seem to have a 2% card, thought you did.

For me, it's still good for paying your cellular bill and buying Apple Products < $2k. Or for purchases too large to put on one of my smaller credit lines.

I think it would be best to purchase with credit card to get the added benefits.
