I received the card in January, and I was not receiving the bonus points either. After a couple of phone calls, I was told that the promotion would be applied to my account and everything would be corrected.

My latest statement was cut earlier this week, and I started receiving the promotional points for the cycle that just ended, but I'm still waiting for the points from January and February.

Have you received your previous points retroactively already?

Yes, and I'm sure they are the retroactive points because I took it out of my wallet until the issue was fixed. Is yours the student version?

Oh my gosh I am a liar. My account hasn't been fixed yet, I just checked and my balance jumped because I got the 100 point bonus for paying on time last month. Haha my bad!

I have the regular version. It seems like I applied right before they made the card student only.

How are you guys calculating if you are receiving the 5x bonus? I just got my statement earlier this week, and now I don't think I am getting the bonus.

If the promotion isn't applied to your account, you won't receive any category bonus points.

After contacting Citi, it'll take a cycle or two before you start noticing category bonus points being awarded.

My question is when, if ever, will I receive the points I earned prior to Citi correcting the issue?

Well, screw Citi. That's my takeaway from this thread.

Out of all the issuers I have reward cards with, Bank of America is the only one who I've never had any issues with.

American Express makes you wait a statement period before crediting your account, even if you zero your account before the statement period ends.

I had a minor issue with Chase once, and after immediately crediting my account the points I was missing, they generously threw 10,000 points my way for the error.

With Citi, after two phone calls and as many months later, my issue still isn't 100% resolved. I seriously regret applying for two of their cards, and I definitely won't be putting any major purchases on either of them. I've already returned to using my Chase Amazon card for my Amazon purchases.
