Can I Do This?

Postby kcarter609 » Mon Feb 11, 2013 7:41 pm

Ok, so after doing some reading tonight, I thought of this plan and really want to know if it'll work.

1) Go to Walmart and get a Bluebird card.
2) Use Freedom to buy $1,500 (3x $500 vanilla reloads) and use them to load Bluebird account.
3) Use Bluebird to pay off balance on Freedom, or spend on whatever else I need to.
4) Wait a little bit, apply for CSP at Chase branch. It requires $2k spend in 3 months to qualify for the bonus.
5) Use CSP as main card, but also buy 2 or 3 $500 vanilla reload cards from whoever sells them.
6) Use Vanilla reload cards to load onto Bluebird.
7) Use Bluebird to pay off CSP or whatever else I need to.

Will this actually work? Or will Chase catch on to it and give me a hard time?

If it won't work with the CSP deal, will it at least work with the Freedom?

It's free to apply online for the Bluebird.

Where are you finding vanilla reload cards?

I haven't looked yet, but there are CVS and Walgreen's and Rite Aid right in town so I'm going out to check now.

Also, Bluebird is at Walmart in town... can't I just get it right there?

I believe they only sell temp cards at walmart and then they send you a permanent card once you sign up. So it's easier just to sign up online. Plus, they charge a fee for the card at Wal Mart ($3.95 I believe.)

You can buy a Bluebird card at a Walmart kiosk but it's just temporary, when you register they mail a card to you.

Let us know if you find any VR cards.

Ok, after driving to EVERY CVS, Walgreens, and Rite Aid within 10 minutes of here, NOBODY has anything. I also called every one of those stores within 30 minutes, same result.

What they do have are Vanilla One cards and Green Dot cards/Moneypaks. Does anyone know if these will work?

Yes they work... I have been using them for almost a year now. Any purchases that aren't under a 5% category get paid for with a gift card which nets 4% cash back.

I think he meant if they work funding the Blue Bird, which they don't.
