So, I can buy vanilla reloads at Kroger, put them on a blue bird, and use the card as a credit card? Also, I can have checks sent to pay my mortgage? Has anyone used the check option? I don't want to send a check and they not receive it. Late fees are exorbitant nowadays.

From what I understand, you can send checks to anyone with BlueBird Bill Pay. I would buy a VR and send a test check to someone you trust (mom, dad, sibling etc.). If it works, you can churn 5K (BB limit) a month and send the checks to someone and they pay you back. No need to worry about paying mortgage with it.

5K @ 4% = $200/month
Credit Cards
Amex BCE 25K ---- PenFed Platinum Rewards 15.5K --- US Bank Cash+ 12K --- Discover IT 6K --- Citi Dividend 5K --- Chase Freedom 12.5K --- Amex SPG 6K --- Citi Thank You Preferred 15K

Not Used
Citi Simplicity - 5K, Sam's Club Discover - 10K

Future Cards
Sallie Mae World Mastercard

FICOs
Exp 772 - TU 781 - Equ 781

Ok. I feel better about reading those links, plus you all have earned my trust when it comes to these things. I'm going to give it a go. I need to use my CSP first though so I can meet my minimum spend. I will def take my freedom to Walgreens to see if they have Vanilla reloads.

Good luck at Walgreens. They wouldn't let me pay with credit.

I don't think they pay attention at the one near where I live. They are young folks that don't care.

The problem with Walgreens (at least the ones in my area) is that when scanned, before I give my payment, a message pops up on the screen that says cash or debit only. So even if they don't care, it won't work.

On the other hand, CVS (at least in my area) doesn't have any register restrictions and more depends on the employee telling you if you can or can't. I've checked about 5 CVS's in my area, and 90% of the time they won't let you, but if you find some young teenager working the register he/she will most likely let you.

There was this one time at CVS when the cashier scanned it and I was seconds away from swiping my card, and then the manager literally ran over and stopped the transaction. I was so bummed - especially since it was either the 3rd or 4th CVS I tried. So close. It makes me wonder, though, if they do get into trouble if someone does run a VR with a credit card.
AMEX: Blue Cash Preferred (6% on groceries, 3% gas & dept stores)
Capital One: Venture (2 points per $1, equivalent to 2%)
Chase: Freedom (rotating 5% categories), Disney Rewards (1 point per $1, Disney benefits)
US Bank: Cash+ (5% bookstores / 5% Electronic Stores)

One more thing, have you all tried gas stations in your area? I've seen gas stations with cards before.

From what I have read, they have a lot of fraud problems with VR's and MP's bought with credit. I don't exactly know what they do that is fraudualent. What we are doing, while not illegal or fraudulent, raises a lot of fraud alerts.
