Ok I guess I was looking at the wrong card at penfed, you guys are talking about the penfed platinum rewards visa card right with 5x and 3x points and not the penfed platinum cash rewards that is just 5% cash back on gas?

I've talked before about doing this to get around the $6000 cap by having my wife and I each have our own BCP cards instead of what you usually old do in having one spouse be the authorized user of the other ("the marriage multiplier")
Cards:
American Express Platinum (NPSL)
Penfed Platinum Reward Visa ($28K)
Chase Freedom Visa ($25K)
Fidelity American Express ($20K)
American Express Blue Cash Preferred ($20K)
Bank of America Cash Rewards MasterCard ($20K)
Citi Thank You Preferred Visa ($9.5K)
Chase Sapphire Preferred ($7.5K)
US Bank Cash + Visa Signature ($7K)
Discover IT ($4K)

Does the penfed rewards actually give cash back or is just points for items? Right now I am getting about $120 in free groceries per quarter so $480 bucks on a annual basis.....plus the $20 bucks I save a month on gas. Are we saying with the penfed rewards with an annual spend of 44000 that I would get 2200 (5%)in cash back?

It's calculated as points but the points are redeemable for gift cards, including Visa prepaid cards. So you get your money back that way. Basically a little less than instant gratification but you do get your money.
Cards:

American Express Platinum (NPSL)

Penfed Platinum Reward Visa ($28K)

Chase Freedom Visa ($25K)

Fidelity American Express ($20K)

American Express Blue Cash Preferred ($20K)

Bank of America Cash Rewards MasterCard ($20K)

Citi Thank You Preferred Visa ($9.5K)

Chase Sapphire Preferred ($7.5K)

US Bank Cash + Visa Signature ($7K)

Discover IT ($4K)

They have sales on the gift cards as well so you can save a few points. You can get better than 1:1 redemption.

Does anyone know if you use your Amex BCP at Kroger gas stations can they tell its not groceries but gas that you are buying? IE can you get the 6% cash back up to the 6K combining both the grocery purchases and gas?

Also what about everyday purchases? Say the wife wants to buy something for her mom at the local craft store, is it better for me to use the 1% cashback on the Amex or the 1x points on the penfed plat rewards? BTW I got both of those cards in addition to my current kroger card. Right now I dont see a reason to use the Kroger card anymore right?
