Cash + redemption

Postby FutureBillionaire » Sat Feb 02, 2013 9:15 am

How quickly do you receive the US Bank rewards card if you choose that option for redemption? Is it quicker to get that than the statement credit?

If they mail it, there is no way it could be quicker, as when I selected statement credit I had it next day. Mail can't go any quicker than that.

Statement credit is instantaneous. US Bank Rewards Card has to be processed and sent by postal mail. Statement credit frees up a check or echeck payment of the amount and allows the spending of that money by charging it to your Cash+ or other rewards card, which then earns more rewards. The Prepaid visa card has to be used directly with merchants for purchases and doesn't earn further rewards on spending the bonus cash. Of course, your $25 bonus for $100+ redemption only comes as a prepaid card, but I don't see why anyone should choose the prepaid card over statement credit if the redemption value is the same.

When I read it, I thought it said that I wouldn't see the credit until the next statement prints. If it comes immediately, then I would have already redeemed it.

Mine was there the next day. They run everything nightly, and the next day after I redeemed the cash, it was posted to my account.

I think the card is 6-8 weeks if I remember correctly. Then, I'll just take it to my credit union and deposit it. There's no charge for doing that for me.
