I was weighing the wisdom of apping now versus waiting for Penfed to hit my credit report. Bottom line is that I don't think I will have an appreciable score change since a $28K CL at Penfed cancels out the dip I would get in doing the app and changing my AAoA downward (it's over 8 years now). My goal is not to get the card...I'm pretty sure that will happen. The goal is to get the largest CL out of the gate, and the Penfed being my largest CL card right now may help that.

One more (small) thing in my favor is that in March my oldest active account reaches 25 years. One extra month shouldn't make that much difference in calculations but humans who programmed them like big dates like 5, 10, 20 and 25.
