Yeah, well I can imagine the large amount of money they lost from the promotion had to do with that.

Big Changes (bad) Coming to US Bank Cash+? - myFICO® Forums

Effective either Feb 15 or quarter 2:
A)Bill pay, home improvement, and airlines are being removed from the rewards. Being changed to book store, cell phone, and sporting store.
B) You can only get 1 25 cash back bonus with a redemption of 100 per calender year.
C) Quarterly cap of 2000 qualified spending.

Too bad I never got a chance to abuse the rewards for their cards, but oh :)

I had already assigned this card to be my fast food / restaurant card so I'll keep it. I get the Platinum bonus since these guys hold my mortgage. That, along with the once yearly $25 card, is good enough for me to stick with it.
Gas: PenFed Platinum Cash Rewards (5%)
Grocery/Gift Cards: AMEX BCP (6%)
Cell & Restaurants: US Bank Cash + (5%)
Target: Target (5%)
Hotels: SPG AMEX, Marriott Rewards Premiere VISA
Everything Else: Fidelity Investment Rewards AMEX (2%)

+ Discover and Chase Freedom for 5% cash back categories

Does everyone redeem their cash back with the statement credit? Or do you ask for the rewards card to be mailed?

When I had it, I always used statement credit. I always got it next day.

The extra 25 dollar cards took anywhere from four to six weeks to get, in my own personal experience.

That sucks, enjoy it while you can! So what's everyone gonna choose for their 2nd category? (assuming cell phone will be your first) You can register tomorrow.

On a side note, it says on their web site that Wal Mart is considered grocery. It's only 2%, but could be useful to some people.

And Amazon does NOT count for the bookstore category. Amazon Kindle purchases do.

Too see the new categories and what's included, click on "Choose Categories," enter your info, and then at the bottom of the next page it will have "What's New." Click on that and it will show you what's included in each category.
Credit Cards
Amex BCE 25K ---- PenFed Platinum Rewards 15.5K --- US Bank Cash+ 12K --- Discover IT 6K --- Citi Dividend 5K --- Chase Freedom 12.5K --- Amex SPG 6K --- Citi Thank You Preferred 15K

Not Used
Citi Simplicity - 5K, Sam's Club Discover - 10K

It really was too good to be true. A wasted pull. But in my case FAR from the only one.

Now I feel totally inclined to abuse the crap out of the card while I can. I'm going to be spending at least $3000 in "Electronic stores" (Amazon and BB GCs from BB) to reap the 25% bonus before August 10th. That should hopefully last me through this year of spending at those 2 stores.

Can I use Amazon Kindle gift cards for anything at Amazon?
