PenFed & Freedom when both offer me 5%, I prefer Freedom. I can leverage Freedom points to increase 5% to 6.25% by transferring to Sapphire Preferred booking. So PenFed is used only when Freedom 5% gas is not available.

Now Amex has introduced cap of $500 per month on BCP which I use up for groceries. My Amazon purchases are significant so no room left on BCP. Therefore choices are to use Citi Forward or if it wait till Q4, use Freedom 5% cash back and Discover 5% cash back

There are no known drug stores who sell $500 MasterCard Gift cards. I searched in known Chicago area and yet to find one.

I called mastercard and essentially what they said is in the link.

Again, it doesn't need to be MC. It can be Visa because you are spending the Visa gift card online at cardpool, plastic jungle, etc. to pay for a Sam's Club gift card. Then you take the Sam's gift card to the store to use.

I buy lot of gift cards from dedicated gift card discount websites. However, I prefer physical gift card and not e-Gift card so that I can use it for stores purchase as well.

All Sams club gift cards available in last 3 months on the discount gift card websites are e-Gift cards. These are available only at 2% discount. Here is link
https://www.plasticjungle.com/gift-card/Sams-Club-gift-cards

In short, I am not able to find any options to save more than 2% for Sams club.

Well then MC gift cards would be your only way. I know grocery stores have them but the cap on BCP makes it tough now.

whatever there points are for all other purchases are I believe citi Forward is 5% back on restaurants maybe 5% back on amazon but if you buy it at a store like krogers, publix, king kullen, shoprie you only get 1% back. for the amazon gift card.

I've been taking advantage of Chase Freedom's 5% on Drug stores to buy Amazon GCs from Walgreens or CVS. I'll probably get close to the $1500 quarterly max this time. That should last me about 2 quarters.

Then for Q3 2013, I'll pre-set my US Bank Cash+ to 5% at electronic stores and buy Kindle GCs (same as Amazon GCs really) at Best Buy.

I think this beats out using Citi Forward because I can buy from 3rd party Amazon merchants and ThankYou points arent 1:1 for statement credits.

Amex BCE: 3% grocery, 2% gas
Bank of America Better Balance Rewards MC: $25/quarter bonus
Barclaycard Rewards Visa Signature: 2% gas, groceries, utilities
Capital One Quicksilver Visa Signature: 1.5% everything
Chase Freedom Visa Signature: 5% rotating
Citi Forward Visa: 5% restaurants/fastfood, movie theaters, amazon.com
Discover It: 5% rotating
SallieMae MC: 5% Groceries, Gas, Amazon
US Bank Cash+ Visa Signature: 5% electronic stores, restaurants
Sock Drawered: Chase Sapphire, Chase Amazon
