Hmmmmm.... Bank of America, maybe? They are a huge bank with plenty of financial and marketing muscle. The cash back Bank Americard is a solid card (although for my current setup not needed), and the Fidelity Amex is very nice, but I have yet to see any of their products really wow the public. They are in a great position to step up their game like US Bank did with the Cash+.

Honestly I'd be surprised if we see anyone up the ante much in terms of rewards. US Bank reportedly isn't liking the rewards structure of the Cash + and i keep hearing rumors that will be nerfed. Amex has cut back on the BCP rewards. Discover upped the rewards on the IT card but only to 1% so that isn't huge by any standards Cap One will give you 1.5%. (Yes I know they have rotating 5% categories and Shop Discover, just saying the base rewards are nothing special).

I'm not sure they can up rewards and keep in business in the current market.

So I really don't expect to see any game changers out there. I would say Citi could stand to up their rewards, they are big enough and their rewards so-so enough as a rule, but they are FAR too conservative and stodgy to do something like that in my opinion so I would not expect it.
But my vote is - no one. I think we may be at the pinnacle of rewards now. And with merchants being able to charge in most states for us to use a credit card, that may well take any rewards we get right off the top.

I think the combination of CARD Act and the recent settlement between Visa/MC and merchants is pretty much the end of major cash back cards. Points are the future - they have arbitrary value that the issuers can change at any time to suit their financial needs.

I gonna guess and say Capital One, but not without an annual fee. 5/3 bank (aka Fifth Third Bank) is too small compared to Chase and the others to offer something like the Cash+ card.
Discover IT: $2,500 CL
BankAmericard Better Balance Rewards Platinum Plus Visa: $2,000 CL

758 FICO Score from TransUnion at no charge thanks to Discover!

New to forum though have browsed around, anyways I had applied to US Bank Cash + card for billpay and figured it was a shoe in as have always get approved, I have amex blue card preferred, Discover, Pen fed cash credit card and my usaa as well,
well U.S Bank decided I wasnt worthy (talk about feeling like the ugly chick at the prom) and automatically gave me their visa rewards 1% with a $6500 cl . yeah ok.. yet somehow Im not worthy for a Cash + card. WTF??! anyways called and supposedly they will pull some strings after I told them I would just cancel it. they will let me know in a month see if they can upgrade, in the meantime their lame visa rewards 1% will be in sock drawer :P

anyone had similar experience?
as Im thinking this slick A-holes are trying to Fcuk me over and force people into their lame 1% reward card!

I know it sucks and it seems like they are jerking your chain. Just please keep in mind that this is a tough card to get. Also please bear in mind that US Bank seems from what I've been reading to not want to push the Cash + anymore.

So I don't think anyone is out to jerk you around here. I've heard of people getting the lower card then in a few weeks or a month getting the Cash +.

Try not to take it personally that does no good at all. It's not like a date where you are rejected on a personal basis. I think the business reasons I mentioned (they don't want to push this card) might have contributed to this. I'd suggest hang in there and see if they upgrade you. If they do great, and you already took the hard pull for this and in any case a 6.5k limit rewards card with a great bank is not a bad score.
