what will happen to my northwest world perks credit card?

Postby KC95 » Fri Apr 17, 2009 2:42 am

now that delta and northwest have merged what will happen to my northwest worldperks visa that is issued by chase? they sent me a letter warning that it would convert to a generic rewards card and that i should sign up for the american express delta card instead. i have had this airline card over a decade and am finding this process confusing because it looks like a tug of war. u.s. bancorp is issuing me a travel card and amex is trying to warn me it is a generic card and i should switch to theirs instead. what do i do?

I looked into this with Delta and here are a few things which will definitely happen:

* On August 22nd 2009 your Northwest credit card will stop earning miles. The ones you've accumulated will be safe but it will not earn any more from that date forward.

* Your card will not automatically be converted to the American Express Delta Skymiles card. You will have to apply if you'd like one.

* Your World Perks miles will transfer over to your Delta Skymiles account. If you don't have a frequent flyer mile account with them you can sign up one for free through Delta's website.

American Express: Blue Cash, Simply Cash Bank of America: WorldPoints Platinum Plus Chase: Amazon, British Airways, Cash Plus Rewards, Freedom, Ink Cash Citi: Thank You Premier, Dividend Platinum Select Discover: More
