So even if you have 600 points you can only use 100 points for 10 cents off a gallon. I'm jealous of the people able to stack the points! But i'm in Southern California so prices are higher here in general - just something to get used to.

We can get up to $2 a gallon off here. Plus, we get fuel points for gift cards. Right now we get 4x points on gift cards, so I can buy a $100 gift card and get .40 a gallon discount. I'm a happy camper. I'm sending gift cards home for gifts this year.

That sounds like a similar program that we have here. Just a tip for you, read the fine print on the program. For us here it is the discount for up to 20 gallons of gas.

So if you have $2 off per gallon and your car only takes 13 gallons, you're missing out on 7 gallons of discounted gas. So I just wait till my car is almost empty, go fill up with about 15 gallons, and bring a 5 gallon gas container with me to get the rest.

Right now I have enough credit for a free fillup, so if I only got the 15 gallons and not the extra 5, I would be wasting $20.

That is a really good offer, but as I was checking the gift cards valid for the offer, there wasn't any good ones that I frequently shop in...... unless you can use gift cards at a store to buy other gift cards? Can you do that?

There are more gift cards available in the store than are listed in the ad. I just got back from Vons with $50 in Amazon Cards, $50 in Arco Gas, and $50 in Disney cards. They had a lot to choose from including many restaurants. The ones most notably not in the promotion were Target, and most of the gas ones.

So yeah with $150 of gift cards bought, I saved $9 just by swiping the BCP and then an extra $25, making it $34 total. Plus 4x gas rewards. Also, the coupon didn't go through in my particular transaction so the guy just gave me a $25 Vons gift card. Woo! I'm thinking of buying $150 more tomorrow and stacking my savings...
AMEX: Blue Cash Preferred (6% on groceries, 3% gas & dept stores)
Capital One: Venture (2 points per $1, equivalent to 2%)
Chase: Freedom (rotating 5% categories), Disney Rewards (1 point per $1, Disney benefits)
US Bank: Cash+ (5% bookstores / 5% Electronic Stores)

I have thought about bringing a gas can, or caravanning to the pump with more than one car. So far I've not done this. You are Von's/Gas company's worst nightmare. :)

Just in case anyone else had this question!

My BCP renews in Feb, and I wanted to check the meaning of two statements in the notification that seemed to conflict: a) change takes effect Jan15 or when card renews b) $6,000 cap is calendar year.
So I asked a rep. It only took four exchanges with me explaining my question more and more in detail.

But basically, the answer is what I hoped.
Prior to the renewal date, you will get the full 6% back on all your grocery (or gift card!) spending. After that date, until the end of the year, you get 6% on a max of an additional $6K spend. So, all your spending prior to renewal doesn't impact the cap, which again is what I hoped but "calendar year" seemed to contradict that!

Thanks for the info. Sucks that you renew in February. Unless you can buy like 20K in GC's lol. I've got till August.
