Agreed. I'm definitely going to keep the BCP. Just instead of using only that I'm going to have to use Cash+, PenFed, and Discover IT as well.

I wonder if I can use the Discover IT to order gift cards online outside of the shop discover network. I think I may have to purchase another item to try to hide the transaction.

It's worth a shot. If it's a store card that you will use anyways it can't hurt. There's no fees on store cards so even if it doesn't give you cash back it wont cost you anything.

I'm going to Lowe's and Macys on my lunch break to check things out. I want to see what cards are sold at those places.

Looks like Amazon sells gift cards to other stores. That means I could get 5 points through my Citi forward or 5% through Discover.

Hello - this is my first post here...

The Blue Cash Everyday is also getting capped next year, January 15 2013.... With grocery nearing $10k a year, I am going to have to joggle with multiple accounts. I have Chase freedom, but I may have to get a discover too. This new policy sucks...

If you haven't read the above posts, it doesn't get capped on Jan 15. It's capped on your anniversary date after Jan 15. So don't try to joggle multiple accounts until you have to!

So let's say that I upgrade to BCP now, the $6k cap would be effective november 2 2013?

this cap sucks!!! I stopped using the BCP for 2 months because I needed to spend money on another card for a bonus, but there were months I put $1000 on that card, about $350 in groceries and the rest in gift cards ... I used to get a $500 visa card, a $50 outback to pay their lunch specials and some other ones for clothing and stuff... my real grocery spending doesn't go beyond $500 a month, but I like the gift card trick!
Amex: Business Platinum (09/12) BCP $10,500 (03/13)
Visa: Capital One Journey $750 (04/11) Chase Freedom $1,800 (04/12)
MasterCard Citi AAdvantage Platinum Select $8,500 (05/13)
Discover: Discover It $2500 (07/11)
Store Cards: Amazon $3900 (12/11) Macy's $500 (04/11) Kohl's $500 (05/12) Victoria's Secret $750 (11/12)

If you didn't read the whole thread, the cap takes effect as of your anniversary date after Jan 16. So don't think you're capped on Jan 16th and stop using it.
