Then you need to downgrade into BCE.

BCE: $16,000 x 3% = $480

BCP: ($6,000 x 6%) + ($10,000 x 1%) - $75 = $385
In My Wallet:
Citi Forward (12/2010) | Citi TY Preferred (05/2011) | Chase Freedom (11/2011) | GECRB/PayPal (05/2012)
Discover it (07/2012) | AMEX BCP (09/2012) | TD/Target REDCard (10/2012) | Chase Ink Classic (11/2012)
BofA BBR (04/2013) | FNBO/Overstock.com (02/2014) | Barclaycard Arrival (04/2014) | FIA/Fidelity AMEX (04/2014)

If they don't cap BCE as well, you're right. I can't imagine Amex wont cap both cards. The annual fee is wiped for two years; I got the $150 after $1k spend offer.

I'm glad they didn't cap it too low. I would have downgraded to the BCE or cancelled altogether.

I will spread my spending across a couple of cards for groceries now.

I think this is pretty reasonable. I wish the US Mint had decided to cap credit card purchases of $1 coins instead of outlawing it altogether. #couldbeworse
Gas: PenFed Platinum Cash Rewards (5%)

Cell & Restaurants: US Bank Cash + (5%)
Target: Target (5%)
Hotels: SPG AMEX, Marriott Rewards Premiere VISA

Does anyone know if this cap will apply to those grandfathered into the original Blue Cash card? I still use the original Blue Cash and am trying to determine if I should switch to Blue Cash Preferred. With the grocery cap on BCP, it wouldn't be worth the switch for me if the original Blue Cash remains with no grocery cap.

I have the current version of BCP and there was a notice printed on my last statement, which I got about a week ago.
American Express: Blue Cash Preferred (groceries, 6%; gas, department store, 3%); Gold Delta SkyMiles (Delta Air Lines, 2 miles/dollar, free checked bag).
US Bank: Cash+ (utilities, phone, internet, restaurant, 5%; drugstores, 2%).
FIA Card Services: Fidelity Amex (everything, 2%); Fidelity Visa (everything, 1.5%).
Chase: Freedom (rotating, 5%); Amazon (Amazon.com, 3%); PriorityClub (IHG hotels, 5 points/dollar); Sapphire (not in use).

*All cards are registered with PriorityClub IDine program for 8 points/dollar at participating restaurants.
