AMEX Rewards Mall is now gone?

Postby Wildcats Fan! » Wed Jul 11, 2012 12:10 pm

Is the AMEX Rewards Mall gone? It used to have offers for 5x points at BestBuy and other offers from lots of different online partners. When I go to member rewards then click earn it only shows a green box that says instructs me to use Amex.com to book travel and to use my card. Is this the same for everyone. When did this change? I want the bonus point offers back.

I've been hearing mixed comments around the web and from Platinum Services about it returning or not. No one seems to know for sure what is going on. I finally started using my Discover Card and their Shop Discover mall in the short term. I much prefer the Membership Rewards points but, I'll take the Cash Back rewards in the short term.

Websteth, don't forget BofA's WorldPoints and Chase's Universal Rewards, or Citi ThankYou for that matter. I'm curious why you would choose Discover over any one of these?
American Express: Blue Cash Preferred (groceries, 6%; gas, department store, 3%); Gold Delta SkyMiles (Delta Air Lines, 2 miles/dollar, free checked bag).
US Bank: Cash+ (utilities, phone, internet, restaurant, 5%; drugstores, 2%).
FIA Card Services: Fidelity Amex (everything, 2%); Fidelity Visa (everything, 1.5%).
Chase: Freedom (rotating, 5%); Amazon (Amazon.com, 3%); PriorityClub (IHG hotels, 5 points/dollar); Sapphire (not in use).

*All cards are registered with PriorityClub IDine program for 8 points/dollar at participating restaurants.

My Discover is my secondary card so rather than have balances across multiple cards, I concentrate on on just a small number. Plus, I'm almost to the perfect number of in the Cash Back program to get the item I want. You are correct though that all of the others sites offer great deals as well. I've used the Chase Rewards mall several times as well in the past.

Just got this back:

Dear websteth,

We apologize for any inconvenience caused and are working to restore the Earn feature as soon as possible.

I'd like you to know that we've recently identified unforeseen system issues within the Earn page at MembershipRewards.com. While we make updates to fix these issues, we have to interrupt the program.

Once we can deliver the best possible customer experience, we will restore the program on the site and the offers will resume to normal.

If there is any other way we may be of assistance, please contact us. We value your business and look forward to the opportunity to be of service.
Sincerely,

XXX XXX
