I have been using my card for a while now. I can confirm that the bonus % is on all purchases.

My only problem (and it is not that big of one really) is the fact that the $25 for redeeming $100 or more at a time comes in the form of a $25 prepaid Visa Card. It is not as convent as I would like. I have to look for ways to empty the card and sometimes end up with crazy balances left at the end ($1.47 and the like). If I could use them for partial payments on some of my online purchases that would be better but I have found few places that will let me do this.

Overall I think the card is worth it as I use it for Gas (2%) and Restaurant/Fast Food (5%). With the bonuses everything works out fine.

I eat out (including lunches) 8-9 times a weeks. Based on my spending trends for the past 3 months, paying my bills would be less than paying my combined Restaurant/Fast Food. Twice a year I have a big dinner for my team and their wives. These dinners put the Restaurant category over the top for sure in Q1 and Q3.

I will have to look for something alone those lines. May take a while to figure it out.

I'm new here and this thread has a lot of great info! Thanks to everyone that contributed.

I decided to go ahead and apply for the cash+ card for utilities/restaurants, but based on a lot of the other responses, I'm guessing I'll have to deal with the straight 1% card first. I applied yesterday and got the "under review" message with 7-10 day time frame. I'll probably try to call in the next couple of days to see where it stands. My credit history is flawless, but young with a few recent inquiries (2 in the last 5 months).

Current Cards: Freedom 1k, Navy Federal Cash Rewards 2k, Citi Platinum Select Dividend 4.2k, Jared 9k, Shane Co. 3k

I haven't paid much attention to cash back before, but since realized how much potential there is to save. I'm thinking about asking for a CI on the Freedom, but if I can shift my bills to the cash+, I can wait a few months. Especially if I start paying attention to the 5% categories and spreading my spending out among multiple cards throughout the month.

I'd like to close the Jeweler cards as they are pointless. I was naive when ring shopping for my fiancee's engagement ring and got swindled into opening an account to "hold" the diamond/ring until I was ready to make a decision. They served their purpose, but now that the 0% intro is gone, I'll never use them again. I'll probably leave them on for awhile to keep my aaoa up though.

I called the application number 1800 947 1444 and found out I was "approved" and I will receive the terms and conditions in the mail within 7 days.

Now I'm crossing my fingers that I was approved for the cash+. The only option after they said I was approved was to balance transfer. Is there a different number that I should call to talk with a representative and find out which card I was approved for as well as the limit?

I suppose I could just wait it out...haha

Good for you man. Congratulations on the approval! To be honest with you, if they did approve you for the Cash + I'd wager to say the high limit on the Jared account had something to do with it. I'd keep that one open at least since it's such a higher limit than your other accounts. It paints you out as a potentially good candidate to handle other high limit/prime card accounts.

I convert the visa prepaid cards to Amazon $25 gift cards, and then apply the gift cards to my account. Amazon allows you to apply gift cards and maintain a credit balance on your account so you don't need to do it at time of purchase, and I don't end up with visa cards with $1.47 as you described. Btw, the banks call this concept breakage, and they factor this in to their costs/offers. They expect people to lose the cards, forget about them, leave some amount on them which gets eaten by the monthly service fees that they start charging typically after 12 months.
