I made $24 last month, FB. I think it's been running about $30. I was really hoping to get the 5% for that insurance bill. As it is, because I got 1% I lost about $4.50 that I would have got had I paid with Fidelity Amex and gotten 2%. That was an expensive lesson.
American Express: Blue Cash Preferred (groceries, 6%; gas, department store, 3%); Gold Delta SkyMiles (Delta Air Lines, 2 miles/dollar, free checked bag).
US Bank: Cash+ (utilities, phone, internet, restaurant, 5%; drugstores, 2%).
FIA Card Services: Fidelity Amex (everything, 2%); Fidelity Visa (everything, 1.5%).
Chase: Freedom (rotating, 5%); Amazon (Amazon.com, 3%); PriorityClub (IHG hotels, 5 points/dollar); Sapphire (not in use).

*All cards are registered with PriorityClub IDine program for 8 points/dollar at participating restaurants.

Hmm, I applied for this card, and got approved but I only got the 1% cash rewards, not the rewards plus... Funny thing is I have a 9k Credit limit...

I called to try and get bumped up and the rep was like "maybe try again in 12 months when you have had your account for a longer time"...What the heck.

I have a Chase Freedom and an Amazon Visa.

I haven't even used the card because the Freedom and Amazon provide better rewards... Do I have to use this card to get upgraded? Or can I just activate it and let it sit... and just hopefully be upgraded one day?

4.50 is an expensive lesson? Man, I wish mine could have been that cheap.

That's very nice. I would probably make more if I used the card more. I don't seem to use it often for restaurants since I have the citi forward card.

FutureBillionaire wrote:I like that strategy with the allowance. I may use that for my clothing budget. I exceed my clothing budget most months, smh. I may also use this strategy to purchase gift cards to buy anything that I can't get 5% cash back on through shopdisover, us bank cash+, or BCP.

I highly recommend that you get a Discover IT card. The ShopDiscover site is the best rewards mall, imo.

My wife recently bought $50 worth of clothes from Express and went through ShopDiscover for the 10% cashback. The cashback was credited to our account but she didn't use the Discover card, which is awseome. So I can get the 6% cashback buying gift cards with BCP then use the GC's through shopdiscover and get even more cashback. Woohooo!

Not Used
Citi Simplicity - 5K, Sam's Club Discover - 10K

I assumed that I had to use my discover card to get the cash back. I will be trying this too. Has anyone else been able to duplicate this?

I don't know if I would put too much stake in that Shop Discover cashback sticking or with that being something that could be duplicated otherwise. They'll more than likely reverse the cashback payout at some point in time, but if they don't for whatever reason, good for you on cheating the system!
