FB, even with having a bit of a pain with them the card seems good to me. Nothing is perfect (though I wouldn't want it to be like that all time where you can't get ahold of them) but overall I'm satisfied with it. Just my 2 cents.

I selected drug stores (2%), Airlines (5%), and Restaurants (5%). The website says it can take several days before the selections become active, and to return to the website to check.

This morning I went to check and it shows Drug Stores, Airlines, and ... bill pay. I called CS and the first rep looked and said that she saw drug stores, airlines, and 2nd category not selected. I thought, ok, clearly we have an error here - I picked one thing, the website is showing another, and the CS rep is showing yet a third. Unfortunately she couldn't do anything about it - said it was a new product, they're still learning the ins/outs, and suggested I talk to a supervisor.

Supervisor looked at it, and the story changed slightly. He said he was seeing the same thing as the website- drug stores, airlines, and bill pay. We went back and forth a bit, but the net result was that he too couldn't change it and had to forward a trouble case to a different office. However he basically told me that they won't be able to fix it either, and that I should just wait until the next quarter :( . Both CS representatives were very friendly, but they didn't resolve my issue. This sounds more like a restriction with US Bank's systems, not their lack of motivation. I will hear back from the other office by mail in 10 days.

The kicker is that I'm going on a vacation next week where I will be eating out every day. This was one of my motivations to get the card now, and select airlines and restaurants. The drugstore option I really don't care about, as I have other 2% on everything cards.

Not the best experience for a brand new customer to US Bank. I have no choice but to use one of my other cards during this trip.

cash+ rewards + original amex blue cash

Postby craigm1 » Tue Aug 07, 2012 7:50 pm

Just got my card yesterday set up the rewards and my autopays for all my bills, it says right in the brochure for rewards
"You can choose the same categories each quarter if you wish"
to me that means I signed up for Bills and Restaurants quarter after quarter I should be able to pick those.

I average about 100 a month on my amex in cash back
5% for gas,supermarket,drugstore

now with cash+ will pump a minimum of $1000 in auto pay bills and at least $500 in restuarants.

This should net me north of $100 with the amex and $75 with the cash+

$2100 a year on the conservative side and no more worrying do I use my freedom or discover card when I know as long as I sign up I will always get 5% at restuarants.

A coworker got the cash+ card and as soon as a charge posts to the card it shows the cash back itemized on each charge not even amex does that

This is going to be a very powerful combination!!!!!

Well... Looks like they reported my account, exactly like I told them not to. Guess I should have figured this would have caused my first credit bureau dispute...

That sucks. But in hindsight I don't know how they wouldn't have reported it.

My app for this card has been pending since Wednesday. Do you all think this is good or bad?

Well, think of it this way. When you submit an application for a closed-end loan (or even a revolving loan including Visa credit cards at my credit union), you're given the opportunity to review the terms and conditions of the loan including the interest rate, amount financed, etc. If you don't agree to accept the final terms of the loan, the loan is never opened and therefore never reported. In this case with US Bank, the application was submitted and approved, but it was never activated. So in my eyes that account was never really "opened" if the means to use the account were never activated. Hopefully that logic will hold when presenting my dispute... In either case, as far as I've seen it only reported to Equifax so far and it didn't seem to affect my score so I might just forget about it.

So from what I have gathered, for those who have Cash Reward Visa instead you can PC after 6 months right?

US Bank gave me Cash Reward with $4K CL instead. I really want Cash+ instead.
