AMEX rewards from Facebook, Twitter, Foursquare. Thoughts?

Postby jbman04 » Mon Apr 02, 2012 3:56 pm

Does anyone pay attention to these digital coupons being offered by Amex on the social networks. Frequently they have a "spend $5 at Mcdonalds, get a $5 statement credit" type deal going on.

Is this something to consider when thinking about when looking for a new everyday purchase card?

More radically, Is it worth it for me to get an Amex Blue Cash Everyday JUST for these digital coupons? (I enjoy using my Amazon Rewards as my everyday spender)
Chase Amazon Rewards Visa (5k Limit): debit card replacement
3% amazon, 2% gas, 2% restaurants, 2% pharmacies, 1% other

Chase Freedom Visa (5k Limit): rotating 5% catagories, 1% other

Citi Diamond Preferred Mastercard (3k Limit): No interest for 18 months

Target Store Card: 5% discount! And free shipping online!

I saw the commercial tonight for Facebook, Twitter and Four Square.

It's not. If you have a family or you spend a lot in the grocery stores or if you occasionally spend money at department stores and gas stations, this would be a reason to get the Blue Cash basic card.

Not for digital coupons. If you spend money on everyday/week things then this is a good idea.

I have a blue cash preferred and synced my card with fb and twitter. For me these offers are much better than cash back. I recently got 50$ back from ticketmaster and 2*5$ from McDonald. So, I would say yes, consider it as a significant advantage for all AMEX cards.
AMEX Blue Cash Preferred 5k
BofA Cash Rewards Visa 5k
BofA World Points MasterCard 4.4k
Kohls Store Card 300

they're a nice bonus perk to the perks you're already getting from your card. personally, i've gotten about $50 back in the last four months alone, not just from twitter/fb/foursquare but also from the deals on the amex iphone app. and i wasn't going out of my way to get those deals. i was going to shop at those businesses anyway, so why not sync and use my amex card?

This technically isn't a digital coupon. You tweet back to Sync and it will credit your statement. No presentation of a coupon to whichever store you use.

I've only had my amex Zync for 3 weeks now and I've already received $30 in statement credits with the facebook and twitter offers. I don't use FourSquare so I can't say anything about those, but for me, is a good perk since I was going to spend money in those places anyways...
Amex: Business Platinum (09/12) BCP $10,500 (03/13)
Visa: Capital One Journey $750 (04/11) Chase Freedom $1,800 (04/12)
MasterCard Citi AAdvantage Platinum Select $8,500 (05/13)
Discover: Discover It $2500 (07/11)
Store Cards: Amazon $3900 (12/11) Macy's $500 (04/11) Kohl's $500 (05/12) Victoria's Secret $750 (11/12)
