Does Citi ThankYou rewards have promotions and "sales"?

Postby QuickBrownFox » Sun Mar 18, 2012 9:21 am

Hello everyone,

Let me clarify the question in my title. I have a Chase freedom card, and I know that every year around the holidays, Chase holds a promotion that allows people to redeem their points for more than they're worth. For example, this year they had 30% off anything in This is a good reason for me and for others to save up all of our points until the end of the year.

Southwest airlines had a promotion on their rewards program recently that gave 20% off gift cards. So for the 50k points I had I could get over $600 in Amazon gift card.

I was just awarded 50k Citi ThankYou points for my recent credit card application and spending. I was wondering if Citi has promotions like these from time to time that are worth saving up the points for?

Thanks in advance!

I have the Citi Thank You card and I have never seen anything about point sales. American Express MR First is always discounting gift cards by several thousands of points, depending when you log on.

Depends on which card you have. The "executive" level cards do hold holiday sales on "cyber monday" which exceed the normal discounts on cyber monday.

Thanks for the replies. I guess I'll just redeem my points for Amazon GCs now

If You have 50k in rewards points on citi you should be able to get either free or close to free airline tickets roundtrip. Get on citi thank you's website and go to their travel section where you can book trips, you can choose how you want the points applied and if any is left over it will tell you how much you have left over to pay.
Cards in my wallet:
-Citi Forward Card for College Students-July 2011
-American Express Platinum Delta Skymiles--July 2013
