Bankruptcy Friendly Credit Cards w/ Rewards?

Postby mettmann » Wed Feb 22, 2012 1:44 pm

Hello all -

Need a 2.5 year post bankruptcy friendly reward/miles credit card.

I was with Chase, Citi and AMEX pre BK - however, Chase did approve me in December for a Subaru loan. (Chase Auto)

As I don't want to rack up the corp Amex, I'd like to rack up the rewards myself for my weekly biz travel.

Already have 2 HSBC cards (Orchard/Best Buy) and 2 Capitol One cards.

I fly UA regularly - so I'm thinking based from what I'm reading here - Chase won't issue a credit card. (although I now have a car loan, and I bank with them exclusively)

Thanks for any help!

I would suggest you apply for the US Airways Mastercard. You can use your miles for United flights and US/United both are Star Alliance members. They offer 1 mile per $1, 5K off an award trip, zone 2 boarding, companion certificate ($99 or $149) and Barclays does a good job servicing accounts.

I would wager you will get approved. It may start off small but they will increase your line with a good payment history in one year.

IMPO it's the BEST Airlines Reward Card for me (& others like me) and being I go to Brazil they offer 35K R/T to Brazil and 5K OFF that (off-peak, two months a year, 30K miles!) they have my biz! They offer other off-peak specials and you always get 5K off any award trip! You should check them out! :-) Good luck!

I was discharged from my BK in December of 2009. Later on in 2011 I applied for the Household Bank Platinum Rewards Mastercard from HSBC.

I was approved with a credit limit of $300 with no annual fee and no interest for 9 months. 19.99% after that, 2 points per dollar on everything I charge which equals out to a 2% reward. I've been VERY pleased with the card and they recently raised my limit to $500.

Thanks for the responses - I already have the Orchard $300 CC, Best Buy $500 CC, Capitol One CCs ($2250 combined)

I tried the Travelocity AMEX card (thru Barclays) - declined - called backdoor - asked questions - approved for 2000!
