If you don't have anything bad on your credit report, then I wouldn't worry too much about getting denied for cards or getting your current accounts closed.
If you are applying for a mortgage, car loan, or any other personal loan in the near future, then I would suggest staying away from CC applications for a while, as your interest rate would be directly correlated with your credit score.
You could look at it as a pass/fail grading scheme for CCs, and the typical A-F grading scheme for other loans.
With CCs, if your credit is good enough, it doesn't really matter how good it is.

I just moved in with my boyfriend and we want to get a card together that will mainly be used for dinners out, groceries, gas, Target purchases, etc. I want good rewards, and have really good credit. Any suggestions?

Thanks so much!

Credit card TX,

For dinners out your best bet would be the Citi Forward. It gives 5x points (which are worth up to 5%) on restaurants and fast food.

For groceries and gas you may wish to consider one of the Blue Cash cards from American Express.

For Target and everything else, you should get a card which offers 2%. The best are the Fidelity credit cards. Because they do not pay for advertising you will rarely see them listed on most websites. Don't let this fool you, they are the best for straight 2% cash back.
