Does anyone use reward tracking website/app?

Postby JackLane » Mon Sep 11, 2017 10:04 am

Hello folks,

Recently came across Birch Finance that tells you which card you should use to maximize rewards. Its been a month since I am using it. Its good, conceptually, but the information that they have in their database is not correct (at least I think so).

I have AMEX Everyday that gives 3% cashback in the grocery stores so thats my go-to card for grocery shopping. But now Birch is telling me to use Chase Freedom (when it doesn't have 5% promotion going on and will give me only 1% cashback)

I have Chase Amazon card that gives 3% back for non-prime customers and its asking me to use Citi Double cash that will give me only 2%.

Since they do not have Contact Us option, I can not contact them to understand why such incorrect recommendations are coming up.

I wonder if there is any other portal/app that is better at doing this job and the folks can be contacted should there be any issue. If this continues, I plan to dump Birch Finance and find something better.

thanks in advance.

Those services are very rudimentary. I left my GPS on one day and was advised to use Sallie Mae for Costco gas. They also don't factor in promotions or relevant benefits. They're good for reminding you about rotating 5% categories, but not much else.
Warranties and sketchy merchants: Schwab Platinum
Price rewind: Costco
Travel insurance: Prestige, CSP
Perks: IHG, Hyatt
Rewards/Offers: Discover, Freedom, ED, BCE
Taxes/Misc: SPG

Limited value, might close: Arrival

Might add: First Tech, proper business card

I use the app Wallet by CreditCards.com. It has a Pay With This feature that seems to work pretty well. It is suppose to take into consideration rotating categories.

I don't bother. By the time I need a web site or app to track my rewards, they've become too complicated to be worth the effort.
