2x points

Postby murdoch » Tue Aug 22, 2017 2:17 pm

Hello,

New to the forum here. Does anyone know of a credit card that offers 2x point (not miles) on all purchases? I see plenty of 2x point offers, but they are mostly miles, with specific items, and the rest 1x points.

Thank you

"Points" is a very generic term. Are you trying to earn 2% cash back? 2% in travel statement credits? Or there's a particular hotel/airline/train/cruise program you want to end up earning 2x points per dollar in?
Warranties and sketchy merchants: Schwab Platinum
Price rewind: Costco
Travel insurance: Prestige, CSP
Perks: IHG, Hyatt
Rewards/Offers: Discover, Freedom, ED, BCE
Taxes/Misc: SPG

Limited value, might close: Arrival

Might add: First Tech, proper business card

Cap 1 Venture offers 2x points on all spend. Each point is equal to 1 cent. You can redeem the points, as a statement credit, to any travel related charges on the Venture card. You can get higher points for certain spend categories with other cards. Click on the travel rewards icon (upper right) to see various card options listed and explained.

I see Cap 1 venture at 1.25 "miles," correct?

I'm not looking for cash back, rather than points than can be used for either miles, hotels, etc (similar to the point structure I currently have with Amex).

Venture: 2% in travel credits, $59 annual fee after the first year (which I hear isn't too hard to get waived, but it does take planning and a phone call), $400 bonus.
VentureOne: 1.25% in travel credits, no annual fee, $200 bonus.

Capital One does cash and travel cash. Not actual miles or hotel points.

If the card you want would be for business spend, Amex has a Blue for Business card that has 2x MRs.

Amex has the EveryDay Preferred ($95 AF, personal spend, not business) that gives 1.5x MRs (and more in bonus categories) if you have a high enough transaction count.

Chase has Freedom Unlimited that gives 1.5x URs. No AF on it, but you need a separate AF card to enable the miles, option...and there are rumors based on a customer survey that Chase may change this to weaken points from Freedom Unlimited.

Try Citi Double Cash if you're looking for cash back. Listen to the other responses if you're looking for points and miles.
