Using paypal to hit spend requirements

Postby Bxm » Thu Mar 16, 2017 12:31 pm

I know I've read articles on the subject, just looking for clarification. In the terms and conditions of chase sapphire it says "wire transfers" do not count towards the minimum spending. So can anyone confirm sending money to friends and family on paypal shows up as a charge and not a wire transfer? Do I have to use goods and services?

I've had PayPal appear as a purchase on Amex and Chase cards. Be aware, though, that many issuers will close your account without warning if they think you're not using PayPal for actual purchases.

I've never had problems, but less than 1% of my spending is on PayPal.

I would not do this. If you cannot reach the spend requirement legitimately, then getting the card was a mistake. If Chase catches you - and the chances are they will if this is your first spending with your new card - they can not only close down your account but blacklist from future products.
