CSR Swipes

Postby Bacon » Thu Feb 23, 2017 2:54 pm

First world problem here, but have other people had difficulty in having their CSR swiped? It usually takes a retailer several tries or I just use another card. Several have said they typically have problems swiping the card due to the metal. Just curious and thinking of having Chase send another.

I've heard of the thicker Ritz-Carlton having problems, but AFAIK all CSRs are CSP-like in size and content. I'm still on my original CSP metal after two full years. It's a bit scratched but swipes okay.
Warranties and sketchy merchants: Schwab Platinum
Price rewind: Costco
Travel insurance: Prestige, CSP
Perks: IHG, Hyatt
Rewards/Offers: Discover, Freedom, ED, BCE
Taxes/Misc: SPG

Limited value, might close: Arrival

Might add: First Tech, proper business card

Thank you for bringing this up.

I occasionally find fast food chains swiping my CSP multiple times. However, most have gone the EMV route of approval so not a huge problem.
Amex PRG, Amex EveryDay, Amex BCE, Barclaycard Arrival, Cap One Venture One, CSP, Chase Freedom, Discover it, Macy's Star Card, Wells Fargo Propel 365 Amex, Wells Fargo Visa Sig

Wouldn't have to worry about it if they got off their asses and turned their chip readers on.

Has anyone seen EMV at a Chipotle? The four or so locations I've been to in the last year still swipe. They have one register, so the added time for an EMV transaction may be material for them.

Shouldn't be an issue, quick chip is here. In fact, no merchant has an excuse anymore now that this technology is out, just ask Wegmans. From here forward, if a merchant mentions slow speeds relating to EMV, they're either clueless to the technology, or it's code for, "We're too cheap to implement it."

I have had literally zero issues with swipes on both CSP and CSR. I have had occassional trouble with EMV/chip readers, but I chalk that up to poor implementation/rollout of that technology in the US in general.
