Citi Hilton HHonors card.

Postby mountaindewvoltage » Fri Oct 14, 2016 1:14 pm

Are the Citi Hilton HHonors cards any good for someone who would stay in their hotels two or three times a year??

I'm referring to both the no-annual fee and annual fee versions.

Thanks!

Possibly. The bonuses aren't bad. Points seem to go a lot further at lower-end properties.

I guess the Amex ones are out of the question, based on your MF rants? :ppp

It's harder to apply when you have moron customer service reps.

Only card from them I'd consider applying for is the PRG.

What's your issue with Amex? I'm curious.

How do their reps come into the application process?
Amex - BCP, Platinum, Business Gold
BoA - BankAmericard Cash Rewards
Chase - Freedom, CSP, RC, Ink Plus
Citi - DC, Prestige
Discover - It

OP (not an Amex customer) went onto some chat feature on the public part of the Amex website and asked the CSR for a link to the prequal page. CSR said there was no prequal page and the CSR then closed the chat with the OP.

Now that definitely is bad customer service, but some feel OP overreacted. Instead of calling Amex, chatting online with another CSR, looking for the link on credit websites, asking on social media...or even just applying without a prequal...OP launched a campaign against all things Amex.

Not to doubt, but I've chatted with Amex reps about 40 times and while they might not always have the answers I need, they've never concluded a chat on me without asking me like 6 times if they could help me with anything else. That said, any individual could have done anything at any time. It would probably piss me off, but I'd just open a new chat and if that failed, I'd call.

When you have competing cards with much better customer service there's no need to put up with even one representative that acts like the one from AMEX did. Quite frankly the guy was probably from India, and I'm also getting tired of that kind of carelessness from the big banks. I want to speak to someone who lives in my own country when I call in with a question. I wouldn't be surprised to see AMEX drop to #3 or #4 in JD Power customer service rankings over the next couple of years.

I don't particularly care about their JD Power ranking.

I hear what you're saying and I sympathize with your position, but if you're that easily disappointed and turned off by these banks (or any business institution) you'll be doing business with no one shortly.

Which banks do you have cards from?
Amex - BCP, Platinum, Business Gold
BoA - BankAmericard Cash Rewards
Chase - Freedom, CSP, RC, Ink Plus
Citi - DC, Prestige
Discover - It

Citi, which is sock-drawered because two years of dealing with their CSR's is enough for me.

The rest are Discover (which is good) and credit unions.

Don't expect customer service to be any better on either Citi Hilton card.
