NFCU Go Rewards v Cash Rewards

Postby Ncoflin » Wed Sep 07, 2016 3:34 pm

Hello all!

I want a NFCU credit card and have pre-approved offers for both the both the CashRewards and GoRewards card from them. What is the better card in your experience? They seem pretty similar. Hoping to get some feedback and opinions. I really just want to open one for now.

Cash Rewards has a $200 for $3k spend in 3 months promo. If you will be spending the $3k anyway, that's a big advantage over Go Rewards which has no bonus.

Assuming I'm not overlooking some method to redeem Go Rewards points for more than 1 cent per point, it would take at least $13k in restaurant and gas spending for the Go Rewards card to out-earn the Cash Rewards card. Since you'll presumably be making a variety of purchases, getting the $200 and 1.5% on everything might be more lucrative.

The Cash Rewards APR range is very slightly higher.
Very useful: SchwabPlat, CSP, IHG, Costco (was AA Plat), Freedom, SPG, Prestige (retention)
Somewhat useful: Discover, ED (was EDP), BCE, Hyatt
SD with activity alerts, might close: Arrival

Might add: Proper business card, CSR, Ritz, Delta Gold, First Tech, BofA Travel PH, Aviator Red
