Where are the bad lounges?

Postby CarefulBuilder14 » Sun Aug 07, 2016 11:33 pm

I've been to:

JFK C Admirals
LAX T4 Admirals
SFO Centurion
SFO Delta

All four lounges were quite comfortable...lots of seats, good food, and lots of electrical outlets. Centurion's alcohol options were a bit better, but I wouldn't say it was very different overall than the other three I've visited.

I've read a lot of people complain about the quality of domestic lounges. I've also heard people praise Virgin America lounges.

It just leaves me wondering...where are all these supposedly bad lounges?

Are they in minor airports? Are they operated by (or part of) Airspace/Priority Pass/Lounge Club? Are United lounges as poorly run as their planes? Independent ones not affiliated with any airline or Amex?
Wallet: Prestige CSP SchwabPlat Freedom It Hyatt SallieMae AAPlat
SD: Arrival BrooksBros BCE ED IHG
Letting new accounts cool off since May
Really not sure what I'll add next or when

It's all relative. United's lounges aren't bad IMO (and how well planes are run varies in my experience) but they're certainly not equivalent to Centurion lounges. You might want to experience a lounge with an international carrier to put it into perspective. And you have to consider your sources as well. Some people love to complain, have higher expectations, etc. I'm just looking for a space that's quieter and more comfortable than the seats at the gate. I can't drink alcohol and good food is a plus but a must for me.

Why can't you drink alcohol?
Amex - BCP, Platinum, Business Gold
BoA - BankAmericard Cash Rewards
Chase - Freedom, CSP, RC, Ink Plus
Citi - DC, Prestige
Discover - It
