I got rid of my United and Delta cards as I like American airlines better. Better points structure and not as much bs with booking awards flights. Delta was about the worst.

Some Delta award prices are absurd, but at least when a good value comes along, there's no close-in booking fee.
Warranties and sketchy merchants: Schwab Platinum
Price rewind: Costco
Travel insurance: Prestige, CSP
Perks: IHG, Hyatt
Rewards/Offers: Discover, Freedom, ED, BCE
Taxes/Misc: SPG

Limited value, might close: Arrival

Might add: First Tech, proper business card

I've found some good redemptions with Delta. I've never been able to find anything on United that wasn't actually completely absurd.

Well, Delta and American will (I think always) at least quote an award price, while United will sometimes say no awards are available for any number of miles.

My idea of absurd is 30k American or 32.5k Delta miles for a one-way economy flight in the contiguous 48 states. I suppose it's still better to have the option, though, then no award price for a flight.

I've literally only had like 65K miles for similar flights from United. I haven't out tremendous effort into it.

I know someone who lives in a United hub and gets excellent redemptions. I don't know if it's me or what...

How was Delta bad? I've considered their card again due to good flight routing from my home airport (PBI) but I'm on the fence about it.

Anyone leaving United out of the latest outrage...or fear or personally being dragged off a plane? Closed Chase United cards?

I occasionally use ONT or ACV (minor airports in California that are 80%+ United) so have to fly with them now and then. At least there's an accessible Centurion at the stop in SFO.

I'd love to say I'm going to boycott United. But, as you say, that's hard to do if you need to get somewhere, and United is the most efficient and most affordable way to get there. Yeah, I could spend an extra six hours in transit and an extra $200 on tickets to stick it to United, but that's not realistic for me. Airline mergers further limit our ability to make choices.

Besides, United screwed me horribly years ago by bumping me from several flights. And I still fly them when they're the best choice, routing/price-wise.
Cards:

-Capital One Quicksilver
-Barclaycard Arrival (no AF)
- US Bank (no rewards)
-IHG

What they did / allowed to happen was so bizarre and stupid it boggles my mind.

It is so weird.

I thought voucher "auctions" were quite common now. I'm shocked they forced it on that one guy, rather than just offer $1k for someone to take a later flight.

I mean, how many employees have to be totally out of their minds (or just not care) for something like that to happen?

Too bad United switched to a revenue model a few years ago. That guy could have otherwise gotten mileage credit for distance dragged. :ppp
