I would be surprised if they would let someone do it now...
Amex - BCP, Platinum, Business Gold
BoA - BankAmericard Cash Rewards
Chase - Freedom, CSP, RC, Ink Plus
Citi - DC, Prestige
Discover - It

Last I heard, it was still doable to PC down to the no-fee Sapphire but things may have changed, and even if not yet, it doesn't mean it will be available indefinitely. It's a discontinued product, so I'm sure the life is limited even for PCs.

Well, I do have the Ink Plus but it does not earn 2x on rentals, plus it's primary rental coverage only applies to strictly business rentals.

What is the highest CSP signup reward recorded?

It is now @ 50,000 points. I've seen it at 40,000. Has it been higher at 80,000?

I think 60K for CPC.

I think 60K for CPC.

That offer might require paying an AF the first year.

10k URs are worth more than $95, of course. My point is just that the CPC offer is probably only moderately better.

Just thought I'd give a quick update to comment on how fast Chase is with the bonus rewards on the CSP. My second statement just closed Friday and I'd already hit the spending requirement. I had expected that they wouldn't even notice/check until after the 3rd statement since the offer was for "in the first three months." I was then thinking it would take about another month in verifying/processing. So I wasn't expecting the bonus rewards until around my 4th statement. But nope, I logged in this morning and lo and behold I already had them! I'd also already gotten the bonus points for the AU on the 1st statement. Chase really doesn't mess around!

So my use case is a bit different from yours, but I'll share a few thoughts anyway:

* Even without a redemption bonus, 50K signup = $500. Even if you keep the card for six years, you come out (slightly) ahead
* Since I do travel, the extra travel benefits, the FTF and the primary rental car insurance add value for me, on top of the other travel benefits
* Primary rental car insurance could also come in handy locally (say, if your own car is in the shop), but probably not worth the AF in this case
* The regular Sapphire could go away at any point, true. But you can also close the account at any point. With a newer account, the AAoA impact is negligible, and the inquiry falls off after two years. Doesn't seem like this particular "risk" is worth losing sleep over

I have a regular Sapphire right now.

Very possible. But if I were Chase, I'd keep it around as an unpublished option so I wouldn't risk losing customers who don't want to pay the AF anymore.
