When browsing hotel websites (Marriott and IHG, in particular) I've seen special hotel rates where a room may cost $10 more but the guest gets an extra 1000 points. Usually, the extra points aren't cheap.
Are these rates targeting business travelers who are getting their expenses reimbursed, and don't care if they spend more of their companies' money? Or do the special rates serve some other purpose?
