U.S. Bank Cash+ No Longer Offering Free Credit Score

Postby wiivile » Mon May 04, 2015 3:16 pm

Just another nerf to this card. I've lost count the number of ways they've nerfed this card since I opened it 11/2013.

Dear xxx,

As of May 28, 2015 Experian® will no longer be partnering with U.S. Bank. Since Experian has been powering your monthly PLUS Score® on behalf of U.S. Bank, you will no longer have access to your free score and your membership will be cancelled on May 28.

Unfortunately that card hasn't really been worth it since they took away "bill pay." It happened the month I was starting my path to good credit. I'm just happy that it happened before I applied. Seems like US Bank is always doing the opposite of what everyone else is doing.

UB Bank is known for nerfing but this hardly qualifies as nerfing IMO. The Experian PLUS model isn't worth much to begin with and the service offered never updated the score -- at least in my experience. I've been at exactly 766 for the past 6 months according to the service. I know my Experian data has changed in those 6 months. No loss in this case as far as I'm concerned.

Allegedly the score is being replaced with another product.

I don't have US Bank, but I've had the Experian PLUS score in the past and it is WAY over-inflated.

I've debated getting this card for a bit. It looks good on paper. But what has been changed over the years OP?

It used to have 5% back on bill pay. This meant you could get cash back for things like your electric bill, or gas bills. That was the biggest attraction.

Restaurants as a 5% category was why I got it. It's now 2%.

There was a bonus for redeeming a statement credit of at least $100. That has also been eliminated.
