Favorite things you've redeemed rewards for

Postby kcm7 » Wed Jan 07, 2015 3:10 pm

I just posted on another thread that, even though I'm probably not maximizing rewards like I could be, it makes me so happy to redeem against travel with my Arrival, that I put almost all my spending on there.

Anyway, what are some things you redeemed for that made you the happiest? I recently paid for Eurail passes for me and my boyfriend with rewards. :D

-Capital One Quicksilver
-Barclaycard Arrival (no AF)
- US Bank (no rewards)

The only thing I've redeemed for is a $50.00 personalized Discover card as a gift. I am banking rewards to use for a belated honeymoon trip I'm planning in a couple years. That will feel good when the time comes!
EX - 804 (10/16) | TU - 803 (10/16)
Primary Cards:
American Express EveryDay - $20,000 (10/14)
Discover it - $23,000 (2/14)
AU on Barclay Sallie Mae - $10,000 (8/15)
plus several store accounts of varying usefulness now

$50 Starbucks gift card for $45 in rewards on my Discover!

But then, taking a good chunk off my hotel in Miami in April thanks to the Orbucks I'd accumulated through Orbitz Visa felt pretty good too.

Just bought two round-trip tickets with mostly bonus sign-up miles from a couple AmEx cards. Total out of pocket was $23 on a pair of $450 tickets.
AmEx - Platinum (NPSL) , Blue Cash Preferred ($19,000), Gold Delta Skymiles ($8,500)
Chase - Sapphire Preferred ($14,000), Disney ($11,500), Amazon.com ($9,000), Freedom ($8,000)
CapOne - QuickSilver ($7,250) / Platinum Rewards ($7,250)

Back when I wasn't really as interested in collecting and accumulating airline miles and much more concerned about getting in with all the prime lenders that I wanted, I used some of my Delta ones to buy some new Bose headphones on their marketplace. It was the first time I had ever tried one of those and the sound quality was good and all but they just weren't as great as people were making them out to be IMO.

However, this year, I'm thinking about what I'm gonna use my Southwest airline points and $600 in airline giftcards from both Southwest and Delta for. I'm really thinking about going out to California or somewhere like that this summer and using those to help pay for the trip. I'm not really sure yet.

My 2nd favorite thing to redeem my rewards are for Discover $25 Staples gift cards for $20. I use them to buy office supplies and put on expense report. Get back in cash + the 20% is a sweet deal. Discover has been out of staples gcs the last few weeks. 1st is Southwest tickets to Disney World.

I cashed out for $250 recently. Of course they debited immediately, causing me to miscount when I could use the money but... anyway.

I also have plenty of points in my MR account, with the CSP i'll be looking at gaining and using airline miles. so what i'm looking at is using the miles for flights, then my MR points for free hotel stays.

My favourite way to use rewards points is to convert them into frequent flyer miles and use them for regular trips to London.
