I just started seriously playing the credit card rewards game into this year, but so far I've gotten $545.47 from Discover (redeemed $50.00). I am happy with that - it is better than earning nothing!

I have probably gotten $40 or $50 from Banana Republic. No rewards on my Walmart card, but I use it for an upfront discount on gas (when I can't get better eslewhere). It would be nice to know how much I have saved on that.

Amex has been confusing. According to my most recent statement (which is my 2nd) I have 11,673 MR points, which would just be the regular amount from my first cycle plus the introductory bonus (no 20% extra, which I should be getting). The app, however, says I have 11,572.

2014 was a great year for me in terms of credit card reward. Each year, I make it a goal to get 1k+ in credit card reward than the previous year. This year, (2014) I got:

About 7.1k in cashback/statement credit through Amex, Amex Serve, Chase, Barclays, JCB, and Citi, which includes sign up bonuses aside from regular purchases/ms.
$1800 Walmart gift cards, $350 Home Depot gift cards, $200 ihop gift cards, $200 GameStop gift cards, and $100 Lowe's gift cards, all through Capital One Venture and Discover.

All these are estimates of what I actually earned (writing all this through my phone. Actual numbers are at home and very close to what I posted)
Total account earned together in cashback/gift cards is about $9,500, much higher than the previous calender year.

$35 dollars from Discover
$10+ from the AARP I think, almost done meeting $100 sign up bonus offer on this one
30K miles from Amex Gold Delta Skymiles
25K miles from the SW
Extra 1000 points on the Ritz as a result of trying to get the AF waived to no avail and the adjustment credits for 2014 and 2015, so technically have been able to get $600 worth of airline gift cards
$104 from BoA Cash rewards
6,581 ThankYou points total
Paypal statement credit for $20 from what I can remember
$10 for first Ebates purchase

And I know I got some cashback from the Quicksilver but haven't added up everything on there yet and if I hadn't been so impatient and liked US Airways more, I would have also gotten the 40K miles on that.
Macy's TLs (21k), Lowes (17k), CSP (10k), Sam's Club (10k), Nordstrom (5k), AARP (4.2k), Freedom (3k), Discover (1.5k), Quicksilver (2k), BoA (3k), Barclaycard Arrival (2.5k), Amazon Store (6k), Paypal (4.9k), Sam's Club MC (3.6k), Walmart MC (1.2k)

I'm quite the opposite. If my only redemption option is cash, I take as soon as I can. I get Sallie Mae statement credits every other month or so. Cash today is always better than cash tomorrow.

Now if we're talking transfer points or cheap gift cards, then waiting can be good. I haven't cashed out my Discover or Freedom rewards because I am considering a CSP for transfers and possibly some discounted gift cards from Discover.
Warranties and sketchy merchants: Schwab Platinum
Price rewind: Costco
Travel insurance: Prestige, CSP
Perks: IHG, Hyatt
Rewards/Offers: Discover, Freedom, ED, BCE
Taxes/Misc: SPG

Limited value, might close: Arrival

Might add: First Tech, proper business card

I do agree that taking cash today is always better than cash tomorrow, but the only reason I am holding out is the psychological impact. If I take a little bit of cash each month I won't "feel" it. It would go into my bank account and get spent without my noticing. Letting it build up to use on something bigger is worth sacrificing the time value of money to me.

Love ebates, should always plug in the merchant, even if you don't think it'll be on there..made a purchase at netaporter during the sale before I realized that netaporter IS on ebates as well!

So far, have earned over 400$ from there
I have a couple hundred at each cc, leaving me over 1k cashback easily..

but I'm not maximizing my ability to, and actually, besides the citi cc and Amex cc I opened in high school, I haven't applied until 2013 for a discover IT card..

Still very nice work there. I really need to take more advantage of my Ebates for sure. I've been so busy trying to meet the sign up bonus on the Ritz mainly right now that I haven't been using my other cards much lately.

I remember why I didn't take advantage of the super easy US Airways sign up bonus. I had cared much more about getting my foot in the door with Barclays that then it seemed more like an afterthought then and that I thought I'd still get something in return by PCing to the Arrival. I mean I had the SW and still have the Delta card with me and went for those for similar reasons but was able to meet the sign up bonuses on both of those anyway. I also remember not being that impressed with US Airways anyway and the flights that I took with them last summer.

Hopefully there are other sign up bonuses coming up this year and next year that might be similar. In hindsight, I definitely would have waited that one extra day, paid the AF, make a purchase and collect the miles. That's what I really call not maximizing my ability right there. Lol.
