Rewards cards you don't see promoted

Postby jeffysdad01 » Mon Dec 15, 2014 1:55 pm

I just learned that in addition to the IHG Select MasterCard, which costs $49/year, there also is a free IHG Plus MasterCard. Chase also has the $69 Southwest Plus card in addition to the $99 Southwest Premier card, but they don't promote the former on their website. Nor do they promote the lower-cost version of the Marriott Rewards card.

In the case of IHG and Marriott, I don't think the cheaper versions are worth it because the more costly versions each give a free night voucher once per year, which more than makes up for the cost of the annual fee.

Does anyone have experience with Southwest Plus versus the Premier?

What does IHG stand for?
Current Cards:
AmEx Platinum Charge: NPSL, $450 AF
AmEx Reserve Credit: $30K limit, $450 AF
Chase Slate Visa Credit: $32K limit, No AF
Future Strategy:
Near Term: Need a good MasterCard for places that won't accept AmEx or Visa
Long Term: Will downsize out of one or both current AmEx cards to reduce AFs
