I'm recently rediscovering what an awesome writer Chesterton was. I mostly read him for his mysteries before, but now I'm hunting down his essays and nonfiction:

"Every one on this earth should believe, amid whatever madness or moral failure, that his life and temperament have some object on the earth. Every one on the earth should believe that he has something to give to the world which cannot otherwise be given."

"The best way that a man could test his readiness to encounter the common variety of mankind would be to climb down a chimney into any house at random, and get on as well as possible with the people inside. And that is essentially what each one of us did on the day that he was born."

Was reading some Teresa of Avila last week, and I liked this quote:

"...it is not as essential to think much as to love much. Love is a powerful force that emanates from us, changing circumstances, others, and ourselves. Thinking and meditating cause us to grow in knowledge in our inner being."

Something I've been trying to use recently while writing motions and briefs:

“Perfection is achieved perfection not when there is nothing left to add, but when there is nothing left to take away.” – Antoine de Saint-Exupery (Author of Le Petit Prince)

Now that I think about it, it applies pretty well to life in general. I need to go sell some of my crap.

These are my favorite 5 quotes that I try to live by...:

"If you do something you love for a living, you never have to work a single day in your life."

"Unless you change direction, you are likely to end up where you are heading."

"The things you do when no one is looking, are the things that defines you."

"Be yourself, everybody else is already taken."

"Happiness is not based on having what you want. Happiness is based on wanting what you have."

The only thing we can do is play on the one string we have, and that is our attitude. "

"No man is a failure who has friends." - It's a Wonderful Life
