    Letters stand for Troubled Assetts Relief Program.
    Remove the two t's from Assetts, and you have what bankers really are.
    For relief they should all chime in and sing the Alkazelzer song - Plop, plop, fiz, fiz, oh what a relief it s.

    Default alternative acronyms for TARP....

    Actually they officially renamed TARP to FATCAT = Financial Acquiescence by the Treasury to Corporate American Titans

    others..... Financial Asset Relief for Trouble loans = FART
    ....Relief for Assets in Trouble = RAT
    ......Special Help for Assets in Financial Trouble = SHAFT
