    Default Yank endorsments???

As some of you may have heard/read Michael Phelps, the record setting swimmer in the Olympics - 8 gold medals - has been photographed smoking pot. Now the companies endorsing him, paying him BIG bucks, are being pushed by moral do-gooders to yank their endorsement agreements. Should they??

Hes sorry for it and honestly I don't think it's something he does regularly. I dont see what the big deal is.

The latest I saw last night was that now the sheriff may arrest him if they can prove that photo was taken on the college campus. This is a witchhunt. Give the guy a break he smoked a doobie not stole $50 billion like Madoff did, who still has NOT been arrested may I add!

Chalk it up with the underage drinking charge he was hit with several years ago. The guy is out of control and nobody tells him what to do. Yeah... he doesn't smoke pot regularly. I think he just typically doesn't smoke it in the company of people who would sell him out. The boy grabbed the pipe and smoked it like a pro. He has done it before and he'll do it again. The man is definitely not someone I want my kids looking up to as a role model. Good for him and his olympic medals... he is just an athlete like all the others. I don't look up to athletes who don't know how to behave in public.

I don't know. Phelps seems like a good guy to me. Of course I know that's based on his public image which can be deceiving though. Anyway I think they're going to harsh on the guy. He's publicly apologized and made no excuses for his behavior. He lost the Kellogg's deal. He's losing millions for it. Trust me that guy is suffering the consequences now, does he really need to be punished more?

making no excuses for it is part of getting caught red handed. It is hard to explain your way out of a photo of you sucking a bong. The old "Its not what it looks like.." line just doesn't seem to go very far there.

Hopefully this will snap him into reality as to what happens when you obtain star status and have the eyes of the world on you. You don't get to pretend that you are just a regular guy anymore. Unfortunately it is going to take an awful lot of effort on his part to repair his image. It is harder to repair a reputation than it is to build one from scratch. Take a look at Michael Jackson for example. He is never going to be where he was at the top of his game. Britney Spears is another one. I really hope we don't have to add a Michael Phelps to that list in the future. As long as he can keep his nose clean and win some more medals for the USA then he might have a chance. One more incident like this and he'll be lucky if they let him swim anymore.

Today eight arrests were made related to this. The motivating factor here is not the crime itself. If an average college stoner were to have a picture of a bong the resources dedicated to going after him would likely not even amount to 1/1000th of what we are seeing.
